Falstaff and associated Masterclass Programme
The European Opera Centre's Masterclass Programme 8-27 November 2017 with performances of Falstaff on 24 and 26 November and recitals on 16 and 27 November
THE MASTERCLASS PROGRAMME
Laurent Pillot will devote his time exclusively to those on the Masterclass programme
As well as extensive experience as a conductor, Laurent Pillot was the founding Director of the Opera Studio at the Bavarian State Opera (Munich). He has been associated with the European Opera Centre since 2003 and remains in contact will some key figures in the opera world internationally
During the three-week masterclass programme, Laurent Pillot will focus on the following:
-
Textual and musical interpretation of your chosen repertoire
-
How to present yourself as well as possible at audition, both physically and through the choice of the best repertoire for you. Topics covered will include general presentation - from which photograph to select to how to enter the audition room
-
Singers will be given the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learnt through practical demonstration – they will be invited to enter a notional audition room, perform an aria, answer some key questions and make a strong exit. Laurent Pillot will then advise on positive and negative points, allowing you to make the necessary adjustments
Singers benefiting from this programme in the past have found this aspect of the course valuable in attending auditions or entering competitions Read more
Singers selected for the programme will be coached each day by Laurent Pillot on their own repertoire up until the start of Falstaff stage rehearsals on Saturday 18 November, with additional coaching thereafter between stage rehearsals for Falstaff
In addition, you will take part in one (or possibly two) recitals at Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool and at the Capstone Theatre based on your repertoire
